Baby Bumpers

I won't lie... these were a nightmare to make. Not because of the design... but because of the lack of supplies I had on hand. It took us a while just to find the blue fabric I used in this in a shop near where we live. The end result wasn't to my standards (meaning it had no binding... I cheated and sewed it inside out then flipped it around for the finished result) But it worked!

This took me about a month to complete due to various delays in getting supplies needed. The inside batting is actually some old furry pillows (which I will never sew in again) because I didn't want to just throw them away if I could get SOME use out of them, plus I was able to use the zippers from them in another project.

I first did the design layout in an art program I use for my graphic designing for one panel....

My husband suggested the train cars be pockets, which I thought was a great idea so I made sure when cutting out/designing the pattern I would put that in.

One panel in process.....

For the other long panel panel I had thought about doing another train but ended up with this.....

Other panel...

Even though I wasn't able to put trim/binding on it... they turned out okay! Most importantly son was able to stop bonking his head on the sides or getting his legs caught in between the railings!

He will pull out all the toys and play with them in the mornings before deciding it's time to wake me up so it works out great for me as well!

... and he seems to approve!
